He has deep expertise of nursing care system, dementia, lifestyle illness, actuarial insurance, social insurance, etc., established multiple companies (including small-amount short-term insurance companies) for new business areas, and conducted joint research with Stanford University in the development and commercialization of elderly care plan AI. He has a wide human network covering government agencies such as the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare, Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, academics such as the University of Tokyo Institute for Aging Society, Tohoku University School of Medicine, AI / IoT engineers, social welfare corporations, and medical corporations. After graduating from the Faculty of Economics at the University of Tokyo (1997) and EMP from the University of Tokyo (2016), he was in charge of derivative development and asset management at Mizuho Bank, and at Mizuho Corporate Bank, he was in charge of managing the liquidity of funds during the Lehman crisis, and received a total of three presidential awards. After leaving the company, he supported cooperation between the UAE government / large companies and Japanese universities / companies, venture seed investment, and cooperation support for domestic and foreign SMEs. Responsible for machine learning model development and data analysis.
After receiving his B.Eng. in mathematical engineering and M.Eng. in information engineering from the University of Tokyo, in 1981 and 1983 respectively, he joined in the Electrotechnical Laboratory, the Ministry of International Trade and Industry. From 1993 to 1994 he stayed at German National Research Center for Information Technology as a visiting research scientist. He served as a deputy director of Artificial Intelligence Research Center (AIRC) at National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (2015-2020), and is currently an invited senior researcher at AIRC (2021-present). His research interests are in constructing intelligent systems which can learn through interactions with the real-world.

Responsible for data collection and service cloud using nursing robots and IoT.
After completing the doctoral course at the Department of Systems Science, Graduate School of Natural Science and Technology, Kobe University (1987), he served as Director of Intelligent Systems Research Division (2009-2015), Director of Robot Innovation Research Center (2015-2020), and an Assistant Director of the Department of Information Technology and Human Factors (2020-2021) at National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology. He has led research on robots and artificial intelligence as the leader of national projects of the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, and received the Prime Minister’s Award (Award for Distinguished Service in Industry-Academia-Government Collaboration, 2015) and the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology Award (Science and Technology Field Research Division, 2007). He is currently an Invited Senior Researcher at National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (2021-present) and Future Creation Fund Advisor (2013-present) led by Toyota Group Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation.

Leader in medical care policy and comprehensive community care system.
After Graduating from the Faculty of Law, the University of Tokyo (1971), based on his experience at the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare, he gives lectures and raises awareness in various media regarding medical and long-term care policies that support an aging society, especially community-based comprehensive care initiatives. He supervised “Community Comprehensive Care System as Town Planning: Aiming for a Sustainable Community-based Society” (University of Tokyo Press), and edited “Frailty Prevention for the Elderly Working in the Community” (Chuo Houhou Shuppan). He also has written numerous books, such as “What the Medical System Reform Aims for” (Jiji Press). He served as a Professor at Den-en Chofu Gakuen University (2008-2009), Deputy Secretary of Health, Labor and Welfare (2006-2007), Ministry of Health and Welfare (1971). He is currently an Audit & Supervisory Board Member of Aso Corporation. Specially Appointed Professor at the University of Tokyo (2009-present).

Leader in physical assessment education and nursing education.
After graduating from Niigata University School of Medicine (1985) and completing the doctoral program at the graduate school of the same university (1991), he worked at the Department of Neuroscience, University of California, School of Medicine (1993-1995). After that, he graduated from the Faculty of Nursing, Pace University, New York (1996), and completed the master course at the same university (1997) and the doctoral course at Case Western Reserve University, Ohio (1998). He served as Professor, Department of Basic and Clinical Nursing, Graduate School of Medicine, Nagoya University (2002-2017). He is currently a Professor, College of Liberal Arts, The Open University of Japan (2017-present).
